Help us celebrate and encourage the church in Mackovec, Croatia, as their new church building and ministry center becomes a reality. Groundbreaking took place in February 2016, and now the building is nearing completion. The plan is to have the inaugural service on Reformation Day this fall (2019) and the grand opening celebration in June of next year to mark the 100th anniversary of the church.*
We can help equip the new building!
Proclaim has set up a project to fund the sound system for their auditorium, and there is in place a grant to match the first $5000 donated to this project. Those of you who know our friend Branko Kovačević and family understand the quality of talented musicians and the many ministries that have grown out of the church and the Ima Nade (There is Hope) movement. Please join us in aiding and advocating for this thriving church’s ministry.
* History
In 1920, in a small village in Croatia, a home church of 20 people was born. By 1923 the church had outgrown that house and work was started on the building of the Baptist church of Mackovec. Completed in 1926 the building housed a growing and vibrant church.
After the ravages of the second world war the church was a haven for believers during the long years of communism as a part of Yugoslavia. Many in the church continued to be faithful witnesses even though speaking the gospel outside of the “four walls” was forbidden by the government.
Our ministry came to Croatia and into contact with this church in 1986, and since then we have had the joy of sharing in this dynamic ministry which has started several churches and done hundreds of evangelistic events across former Yugoslavia and beyond.
