Next Exit-Mercy Street is an important tool for Proclaim’s evangelistic concerts and some “out of the ordinary” music.
This is a collection of songs which will not be heard on Christian radio stations, or even sung in praise services, because that is not their purpose. It is, nonetheless, music of worship, because it explains and celebrates God’s great work of salvation. All evangelism is worship.
It is in fact “apologetics set to music” – compositions written to gain the ear of those who need to hear the good news of Christ’s work. These are the “message” songs, the illustrations around which we build our programs, the accompaniment to the preaching of the gospel.
